CMM Programmer

A leading aerospace manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced CMM Programmer to support the inspection and validation of precision-machined aerospace components. This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly regulated manufacturing environment where quality, precision, and continuous improvement are critical to success.

Position Summary

The CMM Programmer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing coordinate measuring machine (CMM) inspection programs for complex aerospace components. This role will support quality assurance activities, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, train inspection personnel, and collaborate closely with engineering and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and maintain CMM inspection programs.
  • Perform dimensional inspection of precision aerospace components.
  • Organize and control inspection program documentation.
  • Support manufacturing and quality teams in resolving product and process issues.
  • Train quality personnel on CMM operation and inspection techniques.
  • Validate and verify CMM programs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor inspection processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Assist with customer-related quality inquiries and technical discussions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and special projects as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience programming and operating CMM equipment.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional inspection methodologies and quality systems.
  • Experience creating and validating CMM inspection programs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot inspection and manufacturing issues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Experience training and mentoring inspection personnel.
  • Knowledge of process improvement and quality assurance practices.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MODUS, CAMIO, PC-DMIS, or similar CMM software.
  • Aerospace, defense, medical device, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience.
  • Experience evaluating and recommending CMM hardware and software improvements.
  • Familiarity with customer-facing quality support activities.


Education & Technical Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Quality, or related field preferred.
  • Blueprint reading and GD&T proficiency required.
  • Knowledge of CMM setup, layout inspection, gauge calibration, and SPC.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • ASQ Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) certifications are a plus.
